Welcome
At times we lose touch with ourselves. Through past experiences, ingrained patterns, trauma, or simply because of everything that is asked of us day to day. And yet this very connection — with your feelings, your body and your longing — is the foundation for truly living.
I offer body-oriented psychotherapy based on Core Energetics. I provide a safe and supportive environment in which you can connect with what lives inside you and create space for change and recovery. We do not only work in conversation, but also use the body as an entry point to feel and experience more deeply. In this way patterns and emotions can become tangible that are often difficult to reach with words alone.
You are welcome with everything you carry: doubt, sadness, strength, longing, anger… everything may be present. Together we explore what is moving in you and what needs more space, movement or attention. I am interested in what arises within you — and in what wants to develop.
About me
My name is Kim van Hees, I am 47 years old and I work as a body-oriented therapist in training (Core Energetics). In my guidance I combine a clear eye with a warm heart, offering psychotherapeutic support that brings head, heart and body together.
I have been dancing tango for more than twenty years — a passion through which I have developed and deepened my sense for physical contact, subtle attunement and mutual trust. Tango has taught me how movement and touch can convey the most subtle feelings without words, and how presence in the moment and contact with others can be healing.
For many years I worked in the asylum-seeker field, supporting people in profound and uncertain life situations. Later I worked as an adviser to the Ministry of Justice and Security. These experiences gave me a solid foundation: I am grounded, to the point, and used to bringing clarity, even in complex circumstances.
I am in the final year of my training as a body-oriented therapist. I do this work because I like to meet people at a fundamental level — beyond surface conversation, towards a relationship that is real and reciprocal. In my view, healing is only possible in a safe connection that invites you to be yourself, with everything that entails.
People experience me as empathic, engaged and sensitive. I offer space for who you are while inviting you to look honestly at what is happening. In my work, head, heart and body come together so you can reconnect with yourself and live with more freedom.
Approach
In the first session we take time to hear your story, explore what you hope to achieve and sense whether there is a mutual click. I also explain what body-oriented psychotherapy from the Core Energetics perspective entails, so that you can feel whether this form of therapy — and my way of working — suits you.
In follow-up sessions you work on the themes that matter to you. You bring in what is present, and together we explore what is touched: in your feelings, your body and your behaviour. I work with, among other things, physical exercises, expression, touch and movement. Not as goals in themselves, but as entry points to increase your body awareness. This helps you to experience more clearly what you feel and think, and to discover which beliefs may be limiting you. In turn, this supports you in interrupting limiting patterns and developing new, supportive ways of relating to yourself and others.
Core Energetics
Core Energetics is a form of body-oriented psychotherapy that views body, feeling, thinking and behaviour as one whole. It combines insights from Western psychology with elements of bioenergetics and spiritual development. In everyday language: we look at how experiences from your past have become embedded in your body and how you can create space there again — through movement, expression and awareness.
The body as entry point
Much of what we experience is stored in our body: in muscle tension, breathing and posture. That is why the body is such a valuable entry point — not to force anything, but to help you listen to your body, feel what it tells you and connect with what moves inside. This helps you to feel more connected with yourself and the world around you.

Concerns & themes
There are many reasons to choose body-oriented psychotherapy. Sometimes there is a clear problem or a major life event; sometimes there is mainly a sense that something is missing or that you feel stuck.
- Stress, tension or (impending) burnout
- Difficulty feeling or expressing emotions
- Unprocessed experiences or trauma
- Low mood, anxiety or insecurity
- Relationship difficulties or challenges in contact with others
- A sense of emptiness or loss of joy in life
- Desire for personal growth and depth
Body-oriented psychotherapy helps you not only to understand what is going on, but also to feel and work through it. Step by step, more space can emerge for relaxation, clarity and a renewed connection with yourself and others.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Do I need experience with bodywork?
No. You do not need any prior experience. We always work in a way and at a pace that suits you.
What can I expect during a session?
We work partly in conversation and partly with the body. This may include physical exercises, movement or expression.
Do I need to prepare for a session?
No preparation is needed. It can help to briefly reflect beforehand on what you would like to bring or explore in the session.
Is the therapy reimbursed by my health insurance?
No, sessions are not reimbursed by health insurance.
How long does a therapy trajectory take?
This varies per person and per question. Some people come a few times, others choose a longer trajectory. After 5 sessions we evaluate how it is going and whether the therapy still fits your needs.
What if I have to cancel an appointment?
You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours in advance. With later cancellation the session fee will be charged.
How is confidentiality handled?
Everything discussed or experienced in the sessions is confidential and will not be shared without your permission.
What is the difference between body-oriented psychotherapy and regular talk therapy?
In talk therapy the focus is on words and thoughts. In body-oriented psychotherapy we also use the body as an entry point. By feeling and experiencing, patterns and emotions can become visible that are sometimes hard to reach through conversation alone.
How do I make an appointment?
You can make an appointment via e-mail, by phone or through the contact form on this website. See the contact details below.
